How to Find a Good Aesthetic Practitioner
Finding a good aesthetic practitioner can have a number of pit falls, but here are my top tips of making sure that you find yourself in the hands of a fully qualified professional and you walk away with the amazing results you deserve.
1. Do your Research
There are a number of professions that can offer aesthetic injectables: Doctors, Dentists, nurse prescribers and occasionally qualified prescribing midwifes and pharmacists. These can be found in a number of ways either word of mouth or my personal favourite through reputable aesthetic search engines including what clinic or consulting rooms. These search engines have done most of the hard work for you in vetting the clinics and the practitioners.
2. Check Qualifications
All of the above professions have unique pin numbers that are afforded to them by their governing bodies. As a doctor, I am under the governance of the General Medical Council. You can check any doctor credentials through the GMC website, using their name or their pin. It will give you a full list of their qualifications and also if they have any complaints ongoing that my raise red flags.
3. Fully Insured
Make sure your practitioner is fully insured to carry out your procedure. This should be advertised on their website or they should be able to provide you with details at your consultation. This insurance protects you as a client and in the event that a procedure did not have the expected outcome you would be protected and receive the appropriate aftercare.
Check out their work! Most practitioners will have a catalogue of their work with before and afters pictures. Whether this is on social media accounts or in albums, that you can request in consultation. This gives you a good idea of how many times they have carried out the procedure and also how good their results are. One warning note though social media can be deceptive and involve filters and lights. Make sure the pictures you review are 100% authentic.
I hope that this gives you the confidence, you need to get good aesthetic work that you deserve. Ask questions, do research and find yourself a doctor that is open, honest and listens to you as the patient.
